There's no place like home, sleeping in your own bed, being looked after by those you love.  When that's not possible, Orchard House and Lodore are the next best thing.  We provide nursing of the highest possible quality for people aged 35 years and upwards, in a comfortable, stimulating environment where our staff give you the support you need to feel well again.

It's easy to relax here: from a glass of wine and a hard-fought game of Scrabble to an evening  out at the theatre. You'll help decide the events and activities we organise, the food we serve and even the vegetables we grow.

When you're back on your feet, you could go into town and shop or take lunch with your carer.  It's about getting the most out of life: make an appointment with our weekly hairdresser or aromatherapist; ask our trained staff for a facial or  manicure. We all enjoy a bit of pampering!

If you're feeling tired, sit in our lovely garden and read a book from the library, or just smell the roses and watch the local wildlife.  When you're having a bad day - and everyone does from time to time - let us take the strain.  Our nurses genuinely care about getting it right and understand precisely why your needs are special.

A busy social life will boost your spirits and help you feel better, faster.  Family and friends are welcome any time (they can even stay overnight).  It's your choice: if you want to go out, we'll offer you every assistance; if you want to stay in and entertain, Head Chef will ensure it goes smoothly.

Talking of food, Head Chef creates a varied menu featuring home-grown and seasonal produce, with traditional English fare as well as a wide range of international cuisine.  If you're not feeling hungry, maybe our lighter à la carte menu will tempt you.  Either way, Head Chef will discuss your specific requirements and prepare meals accordingly - even use your own recipes - if you prefer.
